These are the key campaigns that the Health Awareness Roadshow will focus on each month; you may have seen some of these campaigns on your TV or heard them on your local radio station, others will be a topic we are focusing on locally.

If you would like to have more information within your community centre or workplace, whether this is literature or an event, please contact us on the contact page.

Throughout August we will be raising awareness of early signs and symptoms of diabetes?

Do you know the 4 T’s to look out for for Type 1 Diabetes in Children and young people? If not, read here:

In September we’re focusing on campaigns around our heart and circulatory health. We’ll be campaigning to ensure that people know what their blood pressure is, what it should be and how to take steps to reduce this! Do you know what yours is?

October is always a busy month with so many campaigns going on nationally.

For people who smoke October is Stoptober, are you willing to set yourself the 28 day challenge to see if you can lay off the cigarettes for 28 days? Why not try this as part of a group of friends or at work- see who can last the longest! If you’d like us to come along to your community or workplace to give you some tips please get in touch!

October is also Sober October which is a fantastic opportunity to save money and raise funds for Macmillan Cancer Support. The idea is to avoid alcohol for the whole month and get people to sponsor you to do so- all the money goes to Macmillan and it might even help you save some money ready for Christmas!

Breast cancer awareness is a key theme running through October. Do you know how to self-examine your own breasts? Do you know how often to do it? Do you know what you’re looking for?

Why not have us come to your community group or workplace to show you how to self-examine and the difference between what a cyst and a harmful lump feels like. We have our breast cushions which show you how to self-examine properly.

November is another busy month for us at the roadshow.

There are several cancer awareness campaigns going on including; mouth cancer awareness, lung cancer awareness and prostate cancer awareness through Movember!

If you’re interested in lung cancer campaign materials, why not check out the latest designs developed for South Tees over at Reduce your Risk:

On the 15th November it is World COPD (Chronic Obstructive Pulmonary Disease) day.

This aim of the day is to raise awareness of the early signs and symptoms of COPD, the risk factors and how we can prevent this condition. If you’d like some information for this awareness day please get in touch- we have lots of information literature to raise awareness.
